PPA
Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) was an active ingredient used in appetite suppressants (Dexatrim® and Acutrim®) and cough/cold products (such as Contac®, Tavist D®, Robitussin CF®, Alka Seltzer® and others). It was removed from the market in November 2000 after it was associated with an increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke.
Early & Meneo, LLP and its affiliated entities represent numerous individuals who suffered strokes after ingesting PPA. We have filed cases in both state and federal courts and have played an active role as committee members in the PPA Multi-District Litigation (MDL) based in Seattle, Washington.
Attorney Early serves on the PPA-MDL State-Federal Coordination Committee that coordinates common issues and matters arising nationwide in both the state and federal PPA cases.
Attorney Meneo serves on the PPA-MDL Discovery Committee and assumed primary responsibility for undertaking discovery against the two manufacturers of the Dexatrim® appetite suppressant, Chattem and Thompson Medical Company. Attorney Meneo also serves on the Dexatrim Settlement Subcommittee of the PPA-MDL Plaintiffs' Steering Committee and as one of four Class Counsel in the Chattem Dexatrim Class Settlement.
